TRAVEL TO THE AZORES


TRAVELLING WITH COVID19 DIGITAL CERTIFICATE OF VACCINATION OR RECOVERY

All passengers traveling to the Azores, and who are holders of a valid EU COVID Digital Certificate OF VACCINATION, that is, 14 days after the date of complete vaccination, do not need to carry out screening tests for SARS-CoV-2.

In the case of the Digital Recovery Certificate, they are valid for 180 days after recovery.


TRAVEL WITH COVID19 TEST DIGITAL CERTIFICATE

All passengers can travel to the Azores, being holders of the Digital Certificate of TEST.

If your result is negative, you must request the issuance of the Digital Green Certificate of TEST through the SNS24 portal, http://sns24.gov.pt, or, in the case of foreign citizens, from your national health authority. Before your trip, you must also register your trip, along with the certificate, on the MySafeAzores platform (http://mysafeazores.com) for the advance validation of the submitted documentation.

Children aged 12 and under can travel without a certificate or test.


TRAVEL WITHOUT THE COVID19 EU DIGITAL CERTIFICATE

Passengers who intend to travel to the Azores, without a COVID19 Digital Certificate, by air or sea, are required to carry out a test upon arrival at the island of final destination, unless:

  1. Present proof of a certificate issued by an accredited laboratory, nationally or internationally, attesting to the completion of a screening test for SARS-CoV-2, carried out by the RT-PCR methodology, within 72 hours before the departure of the flight or departure from the vessel.
  2. Present proof of performance of a nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) or rapid antigen test (TRAg) to screen for SARS-CoV-2 infection, with a negative result, performed within 72 hours or 48 hours prior to the moment of boarding.

If you take the test before your trip, with a negative result, you must register your trip on the My Safe Azores platform (https://mysafeazores.com) to allow a faster check on arrival in the Azores.


When coming from Mainland Portugal or Madeira, the following are exceptions to testing on arrival:

  1. Passengers who present the valid COVID Digital Certificate of vaccination from the European Union, or the International Vaccination Certificate from the World Health Organization, as of July 1, 2021;
  2. Passengers who present proof, in digital or paper form, of a valid COVID digital certificate from the European Union of testing;
  3. Passengers who present the EU Digital COVID Recovery Certificate valid from 1 July 2021, or declaration of clinical discharge from surveillance and isolation measures issued by the public health service regarding SARS-CoV-2, whose validity period is one hundred and eighty days;
  4. Passengers who present proof of carrying out a nucleic acid amplification test (TAAN) or a rapid antigen test (TRAg) to screen for SARS-CoV-2 infection, with a negative result, performed within the previous 72 hours or 48 hours at the time of boarding;
  5. Passengers aged 12 years or less;
  6. Health professionals on duty for the transfer or evacuation of patients and who have their periodic screening of professional scope updated, in accordance with the technical standard of the Regional Health Authority in force at the time;
  7. Passengers with a disease duly proven by a medical declaration attesting to the anatomical and/or clinical incompatibility for carrying out a SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic test, through the collection of biological material through the nasopharynx, in which case passengers must previously submit to the their travel, at least five working days in advance, the aforementioned declaration to the Regional Health Authority for validation, without prejudice to carrying out a serological test upon arrival in the Autonomous Region of the Azores;
  8. Airline crews that do not travel from the «air» side to the «land» side, in the terminological sense used at national airports, as well as those who travel outside the Autonomous Region of the Azores and return without having left of the aircraft.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  1. If you carry out the test in advance, the examination report carried out before the departure of the flight must contain the following information:
  2. Passenger identification;
  3. Name of the accredited laboratory where it was carried out, mentioning the respective certification;
  4. Reference to the use of any of the methodologies mentioned above;
  5. Reference to the sample of “nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal swab”, “nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal exudate”, “respiratory sample” or “respiratory exudate”;
  6. Date of performance of the test;
  7. Test result as «negative».
  8. You must present the exam result at check-in in digital or physical format, excluding SMS format.
